Detailed description
Herpes simplex is one of the common sexually transmitted diseases, mainly caused by HSV-2 infection. Serological antibody test (including IgM antibody and IgG antibody test) has a certain sensitivity and specificity, which is not only applicable to patients with symptoms, but also can detect patients without skin lesions and symptoms. After the initial infection with HSV-2, the antibody in the serum rose to the peak within 4-6 weeks. The specific IgM antibody produced in the early stage was transient, and the appearance of IgG was later and lasted longer. In addition, some patients have IgG antibodies in their bodies. When they relapse or re infect, they do not produce IgM antibodies. Therefore, IgG antibodies are generally detected.
HSV IgG titer ≥ 1 ∶ 16 is positive. It suggests that HSV infection continues. The highest titer was determined as the highest dilution of serum with at least 50% infected cells showing obvious green fluorescence. The titer of IgG antibody in double serum is 4 times or more, indicating the recent infection of HSV. The positive test of herpes simplex virus IgM antibody indicates that herpes simplex virus has recently been infected.
