Detailed description
Cytomegalovirus infection is very common among people, but most of them are subclinical recessive and latent infections. When the infected person has low immunity or is pregnant, receives immunosuppressive treatment, organ transplantation, or suffers from cancer, the virus can be activated to cause clinical symptoms. After human cytomegalovirus infects pregnant women, the virus infects the fetus through the placenta, causing intrauterine infection. Therefore, the detection of CMV IgM antibody is of great significance for understanding the cytomegalovirus infection of women of childbearing age, early diagnosis of congenital human cytomegalovirus infection and prevention of birth of congenital infected children.
It is reported that 60%~90% of adults can detect IgG like CMV antibodies, and anti CMV IgM and IgA in serum are markers of virus replication and early infection. CMV IgG titer ≥ 1 ∶ 16 is positive, indicating that CMV infection continues. The increase of IgG antibody titer of double sera by 4 times or more indicates that CMV infection is recent. CMV IgM positive indicates recent cytomegalovirus infection.
