Bovine viral diarrhea is an infectious disease caused by bovine viral diarrhea virus, and cattle of all ages are susceptible to infection, with young cattle being the most susceptible.
The source of infection is mainly sick animals. The secretions, excreta, blood and spleen of sick cattle contain the virus and are transmitted by direct or indirect contact. Mainly in the digestive tract and lymphatic tissue, oral cavity (oral mucosa, gums, tongue and hard palate), pharynx, nasal mirror irregular rotten spots, ulcers, with esophageal mucosa insect-like rotten spots are the most characteristic. The aborted fetus has bleeding spots and ulcers in the mouth, esophagus, true stomach and trachea. In calves with motor disorders, severe cerebellar hypoplasia and hydrops on both sides can be seen.
